The Sino-Mongolian joint research on desertification in Central Asia

In 2007, Mongolian Ambassador to China, during a visit to CAREERI express the willingness of cooperation with CAREERI on desertification control and sustainable development of drylands, which are common challenges facing both China and Mongolia. CAREERI has been a leading institute on desertification control and sustainable management of drylands.

In 2007 and 2008, CAREERI and MAS delegations paid mutual visits and made joint field investigation to develop a cooperation framework. An agreement has been signed to depict a roadmap for cooperation. Leading scientists has formed several groups on desertification, geology, glacier and water resources researches

A joint monitoring station in Mongolia for Central Asia desertification and environment change has been initiated. More fund and equipments need to be secured.

CAREERI welcome postdocs and students from MAS

2nd joint meeting has been held in Russia in 2009 and a joint field investigation across central and north Asia has implement in mid 2009.
