Academic symposium of the SKLCS, 2009

The State Key Laboratory of Cryospheric Sciences (SKLCS) held the 2009 academic symposium during the January 8th to 10th 2010 in Lanzhou aiming at the academic intercommunication on the main work and research progress during the past year. Academician of the Chinese academy of sciences (ACAS) Qin Dahe, as the main director of the SKLCS, emceed the symposium. Professor Fu Bojie, the former director general of the Bureau of Science and Technology for Resources and Environment (BSTRE), the vice-director general of BSTRE, Feng Renguo, the director of the earth section of the BSTRE, Huang Tieqing, the researcher of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Song Changqing and Leng Suying joined the symposium.
During the lasting three days, participants including the researchers, the PhD and master students gave their reports on the main works and progresses of the researches during the year 2009. Three invited reports: “the let, diffusion, exposure and risk of the PAHs ” by ACAS Tao Shu, “footprint of the 10Be in loess in China and emendation of the old carbon in the Qinghai lake” by ACAS Zhou Weijian and the “scenes of the climatic changes and their threshold” by professor Luo Yong were given firstly. In the following two days, about 50 persons gave their reports. Finally, nine selected persons were awarded prizes for the excellent jobs on their reports.
At the end of the symposium, Professor Qin Dahe emphasized that the researchers should be clear on their research ideas, pay more attention to the crossover with other subjects and stress the share of the research results with each other. Based on this, we should promote the ability of the independent innovation and the research level of the lab. Meanwhile, we should detect, breed and select the person with ability through the symposium to advance the researcher resources of the lab. Finally, he hoped that the researchers can pay more actions on the ongoing preparing works of the coming assessments in 2010, and through agglomerating the research objects, promoting the innovation thought and facing the assessments with high-level research results.
