<P align=justify><FONT style="FONT-SIZE: 10.5pt">High performance computing trainingwhich organized by Computer NetworkDepartment ofCAREERI, Lanzhou Branch of Super Computing Center of CAS, and Gansu High Performance &amp; Grid Computing Center have been held in Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences on 3,15,2010. Lectures were given by Chi Xuebin, the director of Super Computing Center of CAS, Dr. Ma Shaojie and Dr. Wu Hongwen of Dawning Information Industry Co. Ltd, Dr. Li Feng of Platform Company, etc</FONT><A class=" FCK__AnchorC" name=OLE_LINK1><FONT style="FONT-SIZE: 10.5pt">who come from </FONT></A><FONT style="FONT-SIZE: 10.5pt">different disciplines of High Performance Computing. A total of more than 400 peoples who come from Universities and colleges and research institutes in Lanzhou participated in the training.</FONT></P>
<P align=left><FONT style="FONT-SIZE: 10.5pt">　　　&nbsp; &nbsp;According to the introduction of Zhang Yaonan, the director of Lanzhou Super Computing Center of CAS, the training is mainly aimed at the lack of awareness level, not widely application fields, deficiency of application ability, low staffing levels of high performance computing. He introduced that calculation has become as important as theories and experiments in modern R &amp; D activities.Increasing computing power providethe effective means of processing and analyzing a large-scale data, and researching complex theoretical model for the scientific and technological workers , to enable us to analyze and stimulate of research objects at a deeper, more refined and more large-scale level, at the same time, it provide an irreplaceable means of discovering of new phenomena, understanding the laws of science, engineering design. High Performance computing has rolled into the fast lane of development.</FONT></P>
<P align=left><FONT style="FONT-SIZE: 10.5pt">　　　 &nbsp;Zhang Yaonan said that the universal of high-performance computing expertise and targeted topic training which&nbsp;provided by Lanzhou Super Computing Center of CASfrom 2001 to 2007,&nbsp;have covered more than 600 people with more than 40 companies and research institutes. This has played an important catalytic role for high-performance computing applications in Gansu Province. High Performance Computing Environment is used by more than 400 developers and has supported scientific computing for 285 subjects in 7 years. High-performance computing has been extended to all research aspects and generated a tremendous impact on research approach of CAREERI.</FONT></P>
