Lichenologist From Korea Visited Shapotou Station

Jae-Seoum Hur, famous expert of the Lichenological Reseaech Center,Sunchor National University of RoKorea,with his students paid a visit to the shapotou ,Desert Research and Experiment Station on April 28-29,2010.This is his second time to the station to conduct academic exchange after 2008.
During his two-day stay at the station,he and his student visited the station’s various laboratories and observation fields,they highly praised the station’s better scientific research conditions,scientists’ long-term painstaking observations and applied research fields.Especially the formation and development of lichen crusts on stabilized sand dune surface aroused professor Hur’s great interest, hence he took many photographs and collected some soil biotic crusts for relewant analysis after returning to his country,Then, he gave two academic lectures, i.e. the “Lichenological research in RoKorea”and the “Exploring study of biodiversity of desert lichen crusts and artificial restoration of dry land”.
At the end of his lectures,professor Hur said he was deeply impressed by what he had seen at the Shapotou Station,he hoped to visit the Shapotou station again,and he also invited the station’s yong scientists to visit RoKorea to conduct academic exchange and cooperation researches.
