On October the 27th, 2010, Zhang Xiaojun (the deputy director of Cold & Arid Regions Environmental & Engineering Research Institute (CAREERI), CAS) and Wang Shangli (the head of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration department of CAREERI) carried out the inspection review in Heihe Upstream Watershed Ecology-Hydrology Experimental Research Station of CAREERI, CAS. Song Yaoxuan, the vice administrator of the station, reported the situation of the basic construction projects of the station. Cui Jiyuan, the delegate of the construction company (Gansu-Shahe Construction Decoration Engineering Limited Liability Company), reported on the construction standards and working schemes of the main project and additional works of the station. Finally, the leaders of CAREERI agreed that this station has come up to the standard for architectural design of the scientific research and living facilities, and the station have passed the check and acceptance.
Heihe Upstream Watershed Ecology-Hydrology Experimental Research Station is located in Zhamashi township of Qilian county in Qinhai province, belongs to the source region of Heihe Watershed, with an altitude of 3040m, and it is 38km away from Qilian county, and 700km away from Lanzhou City. The station inherits the glacier hydrology observation station (1958~1968) and the permafrost hydrological observation station in Bingou Basin (1984~1994) of Qilian Mountain. The Yeniugou hydrology process in cold region position observation site, belongs to the Laboratory of Soil and Water Resources of CAREERI, CAS, was built in 2004, and formally become a key field observation station of CAREERI, in February, 2008.The overall research objective is to explore the mechanism of hydrology-ecology process in cold region watershed in China, and its respondence to the global change. The final objective is to predict the high-accuracy runoff under the global warming. The main research areas include Hydrology in cold region, Ecohydrology in cold region, Ecological Restoration and Economy in cold region.
