In the afternoon on Sep.4th, the Minister-Counselor Ms. Cathryn Hlavka from Australian Embassy, China, who takes the charge of the education and scientific research, visited CAREERI, CAS. She visited the Museum of Innovative Science and Technology, the State Key Laboratory of Frozen Soil Engineering, and the State Key Laboratory of Cryospheric Sciences. Deputy Directors of CAREERI Feng Qi and Wang Ninglian, Director of Party and Administration Offices Wang Jindong, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Frozen Soil Engineering Wang Guirong, Prof. Qi Jilin et al., warmly received her. 

Wang Ninglian et al. introduced the development history, research field, main research direction, innovative achievements, scientific research platform, scientific research personnel, the long-term development strategy of CAREERI, and major awards of scientific research, and so on. They especially introduced the ecological environmental protections, the projects of prevention and control of desertification, the frozen soil engineering of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway and the integration research of the eco-hydrology processes on Heihe River basin. 

Ms. Cathryn Hlavka thanked for the warm reception and the splendid explanation, and expressed her admiration to the achievements of scientific research personnel in CAREERI. She hoped CAREERI strengthen contacts with Australia, promote the development of the related discipline.
