CAS President Bai Chunli Congratulates CAS Member Qin Dahe Wins the Volvo Environment Prize

Due to CAS Member Qin Dahe awarded the Volvo Environment Prize, CAS President Bai Chunli sent a congratulatory letter to Dr. Qin on Oct. 29, 2013, highly commended his outstanding contributions to the scientific understanding of climate and the fifth assessment report from the UN climate panel (IPCC). 

As the first Chinese person who passed through the Antarctic continent, Dr. Qin makes Antarctic glaciological research of China into an advanced level in the world. Otherwise, as the chief scientist in the field of cryospheric sciences, Dr. Qin is also the first man who put forward the theoretical framework of cryospheric sciences. In recent years, Dr. Qin actively participated in the activities of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Chang (IPCC), and made important contributions to the fifth assessment report from the UN climate panel (IPPC). In a word, Dr. Qin makes a great progress in global change research of our country. 

Last week, Dr. Qin has been awarded the Volvo Environment Prize for 2013 for his cryospheric science and global climate change research.
