2013 academic board of State Key Laboratory of Cryospheric Sciences, Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute (CAREERI) was held in Lanzhou on December 1st, 2013. The opening ceremony was hosted by CAS Member Qin Dahe, and the academic board was hosted by CAS Member Wu Guoxiong. 

The Director of the State Key Laboratory Kang Shichang introduced the general situation, research progresses, platform construction, talents team and opening communications and managements to the academic board. Professors from the State Key Laboratory gave academic reports on the location and observation of glaciers in northwest arid regions, the characteristics and distinction of permafrost in Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, the alpine grassland ecosystem in Qinghai-Xizang Plateau and carbon cycle and model of vegetation in high latitude regions. 

2013 academic achievements of State Key Laboratory of Cryospheric Sciences were high praised by CAS Member Yao Tandong, and prof. Yao also gave his constructive suggestions.  

At last, members from academic board reviewed applications for the opening foundation of 2013 State Key Laboratory of Cryospheric Sciences.
