On July 30, 2026, the National Cryosphere Desert Scientific Data Center (NCDC) received the international certification of CorTrustSeal's global core trusted repository.

CorTrustSeal Global Core Trusted Repository International Certification is an international certification of global core trusted repositories jointly promoted by the International Council for Science Data Seal of Approval (DSA) and the World Data System (WDS). The latest certification requirements of CorTruTrustSeal 2026-2028 further strengthen the core feature of "proactive preservation" as a trusted repository. From the three dimensions of organizational infrastructure, digital object management, and information technology security, the requirements are relevant to the work mission of data center/warehousing, professional team building, management service guarantee, long-term preservation, data quality control, data reliability, data intelligibility, data discoverability, data reusability, Strictly evaluated 16 aspects including infrastructure and information security.

As of July 2026, a total of 176 data centers/warehouses around the world have obtained this certification, covering 31 countries. Currently, a total of 4 data centers/warehouses in China hold valid CorTrustSeal certification. The National Glacier, Frozen Soil and Desert Scientific Data Center is the first data center/warehouse in China in the field of geosciences to pass the latest CorTrustSeal 2026-2028 certification requirements.

National Glacier, Frozen Soil and Desert Scientific Data Center (National Cryosphere Desert Data Center (NCDC) is one of the first batch of 20 national-level scientific data centers jointly approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance. Relying on the construction and operation of the Northwest Institute of Ecological and Environmental Resources of China Academy of Sciences, it is an important part of the national scientific and technological resource sharing service platform. It has long been committed to the collection, reorganization, preservation of scientific data on global glaciers, frozen soil, deserts, snow cover, loess and related cold and dry regions. Analyze and share, improve the efficiency of data resource use, and serve major national strategic needs such as climate change, water resources, ecological security, and disaster prevention and reduction.

This time, passing the CorTruTrustSeal certification shows that the National Glacier, Frozen Soil and Desert Scientific Data Center has been internationally recognized in terms of data aggregation, standardized management, trusted storage, rights protection, long-term preservation and continuous service capabilities. The center will continue to improve the entire data life cycle governance, follow the principle of "whoever opens will benefit", continue to provide credible data warehousing for various projects and papers, and strive to build a scientific data hub with international influence.
