The 1’th session of the 1’th Qilian Shan Station of Glaciology and Ecologic Environment academy committee

The 1’th session of the 1’th Qilian Shan Station (Qilian Shan Station of Glaciology and Ecologic Environment) academy committee was held on 8’th, November at State key laboratory of cryospheric sciences in Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences. About 15 Scientific Committee Members and 60 people of relevant departments attended the meeting, which come from the Institute of Tibetan Plateau research, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University, China Meteorological Administration, Gansu Meteorological Administration and so on.Yao Tandong (Academician of CAS), as head of the academy committee, conducted the Meeting.
The stationmaster Qin Xiang gave a report about advances in Qilian Shan Station. From 2005, many observations and measurements relating to glacier meteorology, mass balance, and movement feature of glacier, snow and ice chemistry have been started in succession in Laohugou Glacier No.12. In 2008, hydrological observation had been started. This year ecological observation and atmospheric chemical composition measurement had been started. A preliminary Integrated Observing System had established at the western of Qilian Shan Station from these effective measures. Also a platform had been built since the high-altitude station and Yumen base were built. Then four doctoral students gave reports in succession.
  At the last of the meeting, many scientific committee members gave praise of the progress in Qilian Shan Station; also, they provided many advices for its further development. They expected the Integrated Observing System should improve to provide scientific evidence and service to sustainable development.
