Because of the uncertainty of aeolian activities in temporal, spatial and intensity dimensions, it is difficult to measure sand transport during a long period, so sand transport is just used to assess aeolian activities during a short time. Sand drift potential (DP) is often used to assess regional aeolian activity during a long period. Different indices can cause bias in regional aeolian activity assessment. The researchers have accumulated first-hand sand transport and sand drift potential data for three years in the Blown Sand Observation Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The analyzing results of regional aeolian activity indicated that sand transport in the study region was 0.89~18.11 kg·m-1 in every month from 2005 to 2008, and DP ranged in 0.03~21.01. Aeolian activity was the most serious in April and May in every year in the region. Sand transport increased with DP, and there was a linear relationship between sand transport and sand drift potential.
