Most of aeolian physics researches focus on field observation of wind blown sand and numerical simulation for saltation of sand grains with the uniform diameter size. Therefore, the numerical study for nonuniform sand grains seems very necessary. In this research, computational method is employed to simulate saltation movement of sand grains with various diameters. The researchers analyzed the saltation movement of sand particles with seven different particle size distributions respectively. The results show that the air flow has more powerful transporting ability for nonuniform particles than that for uniform particles at the same wind velocity when the average grain diameters are identical. Meanwhile, when saltation movement comes to steady state there exist different saltation heights and lengths including related saturated saltation layer thicknesses for different particle size distributions.
