Design of Model Test System for Cold Regions Engineering with Dynamic Loading

The model test system for cold regions engineering with dynamic loading is introduced in this paper. This system consists of model test tank, refrigeration system and temperature controller, dynamic loading system, sensors and date collectors, of which the features are presented as follows. The maximum length, width and height of model test specimen are 3 m, 2.5 m and 1m, respectively. Three groups of freezing plate are used to lower the temperature of model specimen, so the cooling rate is fast. The lowest temperature provided by refrigeration system is -20 ℃. The temperature fluctuation and uniformity of freezing plate are less than±0.2 ℃ and ±0.3 ℃, respectively. The maximum load provided by dynamic loading system is 100 kN and the maximum move distance of actuator is ±75 mm. The vibration frequency of dynamic load can change in the range of 0.1~10 Hz. Several kinds of waveform, such as sine wave, rectangular wave, triangle wave and other waves defined by user, can be produced by controller of dynamic loading system. To perform a model test, first, put specimen into the model test tank, secondly, lower the temperature of model specimen, thirdly, press dynamic load on the specimen, finally, collect data of stress, deformation and temperature change by sensors and date-collectors.
