Based on field tests and laboratory analysis, spatial heterogeneity of soil water contents in oasis-desert belt of Minqin was studied. Results show that the maximum value of soil water contents is located in oasis, and the minimum values is shown up in oasis-desert transitional belt. The soil water contents increase gradually from the surface layer to bottom layer of the soil in oasis. The soil water contents are low at surface soil layer and bottom soil layer in oasis-desert transitional belt, but it is high at middle soil layers. Vertical variation of soil water contents in desert is just opposite to that in oasis-desert transitional belt. The greatest variation coefficient of soil water contents occurs in oasis-desert transitional belt, and the smallest variation coefficient of soil water contents appear at oasis. The optical simulation models of soil water contents in different layers are not completely identical. The soil water contents has not strong spatial autocorrelation, and they are largely affected by random factors.
