20 snow pit samples were taken from the Sigong River Glacier No.4 on the Mt.Bogeda,Tianshan Mountains in July,2009.The samples were analyzed for major ions(Na+,K+,Ca2+,Mg2+,NH4+,Cl-,SO42-,NO3-,HCOO-and CH3COO-).It is found that NO3- and SO42- were characterised by significant high levels of concentration,521.4 ng·g-1 and 760.4 ng·g-1,respectively.Most backward trajectories ending on December 2008 had passed ürümqi city center. The mean pH value of the snow samples was coincident with the average value of ürümqi aerosol, and the ratio of / in the snow pits agreed with the value of the ürümqi winter aerosols in general. In addition, the / ratio of snow samples was only 0.7.These analyses indicate that SO42- and NO3- in the Glacier originate from anthropogenic pollutions.
