Using the observed data atMaqu station in 2010, the characteristicsof the surface radiation and energy budgets were analyzed. The solar radiation and net radiation averaged 6482.2and 2577.2 MJ·m-2·a-1, respectively. The albedo averaged 0.25 annually, with a slightly low value of 0.22 in the growing season from May to October. The annual solar radiation lost 38% as longwave radiation, which was higher than values reported for lowland grasslands. The ratio of net radiation to solar radiation was at an average of 0.38, however, which was much lower than that for lowland grasslands. More than 93% of net radiation was converted to sensible heat flux during the frozen soil period, and more than 62% of net radiation was converted to latent heat flux during growth period.
