Ecological protective policy has obvious effect on reversion of land desertification process. To understand the effect of prohibiting grazing policy on desertification reversion, Yanchi County was selected as a case study area to conduct a quantitative research on the effect of prohibiting grazing policy in this research. The system dynamics method was used, and both natural factors and human factors significantly related to desertification process were considered in the evaluation index system. Model was set up to simulate response of the degree of desertification to different prohibit extents such as 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%,…, 100%. Results showed that the degree of desertification reduced with the increase of prohibiting extent. When the extent was 30%, the desertification reversion began, and when the extent was 40%, the trend of restoration was steady, and the speeds of restoration were the same when the prohibit extent changed from 40% to 100%. These results could be very useful for the applying of prohibiting grazing policy in Yanchi County and other similar regions.
