The characteristics of wind field and air temperature field in the near-surface layer in Kumtagh Desert and neighboring areas are simulated and analyzed by WRF (Weather Research and Forecast) model, which is a middle scale mode. Results show that the southward airflow passing Kumtagh Desert evolves into three branches due to the effect of uplifting landforms of Tibetan Plateau: northwest wind blowing to Gansu province, northeast wind blowing to Taklimakan Desert and south wind blowing to Qinghai province. The air temperature at the height of 2-m gradually decreases from north to south until the boundary of Qinghai province, and then increases.
