Remote Sensing Station ,Heihe,CAS was established

On 9th August, the remote sensing experimental research station,Heihe,CAS which locates in the suburb of Zhangye in Gansu province was established.Zhangye Municipal Party Committee Secretary Chen Kegong, Vice President of Lanzhou University An Lizhe, Vice president of Lanzhou Branch CAS Yang shengrong, Director of CAREERI, CAS Ma Wei, The academician of CAS, Deputy Director of CAREERI, CAS Lai Yuanming, Deputy Director of CAREERI, CAS Feng Qi, attended the opening ceremony.

Approved by CAS, Remote sensing experimental research station on Heihe River is to focus on the research of eco-hydrological processes mainly in the field of cryosphere and arid area, to provide the comprehensive observation of remote sensing and ground over a long period of time, to support the combination of remote sensing science and eco-hydrology and the implement of significant ecological protection project in the Northwest region and the local social and economic sustainable development. A real remote sensing observation platform will be built through the construction of a typical underlying surface remote sensing comprehensive observation experiment site, which will cover the whole Heihe River Basin. By the means of satellite-machine -ground experimental remote sensing, the research station is to develop the method of remote sensing scaling, and it will be built into an experiment site, which will develop the algorithm and inspect the authenticity of many kinds of eco-hydrological remote sensing products in cold and arid regions. At the same time, the research station will accumulate the series remote sensing and the integrated data set with a ground supporting for a long time, produce multi-source remote sensing data products of the surface process, support the scientific research of land surface in cold and arid regions, and service to scientific watershed management and decision-making.

It is reported that the experimental research station will be built into a remote sensing experiment site, which will have a typical underlying surface grid cell size in cold and arid regions, and it will form the experimental capacity of comprehensive observation, which will support the capacity from a single point observation to the aviation grid cell, and to the conversion of different satellite grid cell sizes, it is to support the validation of a series of satellite remote sensing products at home and abroad in current and future. At the same time, the research station is to set up to a research platform of remote sensing experiment for researchers at home and abroad, and it will promote the popularization of remote sensing science and field practice actively.
